Clay soils represent a significant challenge in the construction of road infrastructures due to their low bearing capacity and lack of stability. This is manifested in its tendency to expand and contract in response to the presence of water. The present investigation will be carried out on the Otuzco - Pachin Alto section highway, located in the department of La Libertad, province of Otuzco and district of Otuzco. In this area, there is a type of soil with clayey characteristics, which raises the need to find solutions and alternatives to the traditional treatment methods for this type of soil. Our study aims to determine the effect of calcium chloride in the subgrade with clayey soils, specifically in the variations of the support values (CBR). In addition, it seeks to evaluate the influence of calcium chloride on the physical properties of clayey soils. For the investigation of the soils, four samples were collected at different points of the mentioned section with the objective of carrying out the corresponding laboratory tests. The results obtained are presented below: The pertinent topographic study was carried out in order to determine the geographical characteristics of the land. 4 pits were made to carry out the studies of moisture content, granulometry, Proctor test, CBR, etc. Having as a result in the tests two types of soils (A-1-a(0) and A-2-4(0)), which does not meet the quality requirements established by the MTC that tells us that the material to be used for the subgrade of a pavement must have a CBR>30% or 40%. For both samples, the aforementioned tests were carried out, it was concluded that great results were obtained when calcium chloride was incorporated, which is clearly noticeable in the CBR increases, at percentages of 3%, the percentage increases, unlike 4%. which decreases your CBR
