Pulmonary hypertension (PH) occurs in a large percentage of patients hospitalized with COVID-19, being associated with a poor prognosis and higher mortality. COVID-19-associated coagulopathy (CAC) and severity of pulmonary involvement (SPI) may be contributors to the development of PH. OBJECTIVE To assess the association between coagulopathy associated with COVID-19 and severe pulmonary involvement with tomographic criteria for pulmonary hypertension in adults with severe COVID-19. METHODS We conducted an analytical cross-sectional study was carried out in 242 adults with severe COVID-19 admitted to the Hospital de Alta Complejidad Virgen de la Puerta from April to September 2020. RESULTS The prevalence of patients with CAC with PH tomographic criteria was 47.2% and in those without CAC it was 25.2%, p<0.01. The prevalence of patients with SPI with PH tomographic criteria in patients was 35.8% and non-SPI it was 14.5%, p<0.01. In the multivariate analysis, the CAC had a PR: 1.53 (CI 0.9-4.18) and the SPI had a PR: 1.67 (CI 1.05-4.89). CONCLUSIONS CAC isn´t associated with the tomographic criteria for PH; SPI is associated with the tomographic criteria for PH, in adults with severe COVID-19.
