The objective of the research was to determine the association between canine atopic dermatitis (CAD) and otitis in Canis familiaris, as well as to know the associated factors that participate in its presentation. 100 canines of different breeds, ages and sexes were sampled. These were physically evaluated, for this, the epidemiological sheet was used to know the history and antecedents, use of Favrot criteria for the recognition of atopy, dermogram for the location of lesions, visual analog scale for pruritus and otitis diagnosis sheet. For the evaluation of the factors associated with atopic dermatitis, those related to age, sex, breed, evolution, seasonality, coexistence with other pets and environment were mainly considered. The results show that, of 100 canines evaluated, 61% were atopic (61/100), among which 4% presented exclusively atopy (4/61), and 57% atopy associated with otitis (57/61). While, 34% (34/100) of the total participants suffered exclusively from otitis, and 5% (5/100) did not present atopic dermatitis or otitis. For statistical analysis, Fisher's exact test was applied as appropriate, determining that the factors: sex and race, did not have statistical significance (p≥0.05). On the other hand, the factors in which an association was found was the seasonality factor, where it was found that 92.98% were atopic canines and those who presented exacerbation of signs and lesions of atopy during the summer season; and the environment factor, where 96.49% of the atopic canines spent the most time indoors, thus showing a significant statistical difference of (p≤0.05). Likewise, no significant difference was found in the association of atopic dermatitis and otitis externa in Canis familiaris (p≥0.05) and requires an individualized approach, depending on the condition of each patient.
