Specify if the dystocia index a predictor of the type of patients at the Belén de Trujillo Hospital? MATERIALS AND METHODS: Analytical diagnostic test study conducted on patients in labor at the Obstetric Service at HBT during the period 2021 to 2022, in which the dystocia index was evaluated to predict the type of delivery. The labor index was defined as the newborn's weight divided by the mother's height plus maternal body mass index. RESULTS: In patients with cesarean delivery, 78% were older, 83% were multiparous, 1% had diabetes, 5% had preeclampsia, the average maternal weight was 70.4 ± 12.9 kg, the average height was 1.50 ± 0.06 m, the average newborn weight was 3594 ± 601 g, 30% had fetal distress, 1% had descent dystocia, and 1% had dilation dystocia. In patients with vaginal delivery, 73% were older, 63% were multiparous, 1% had diabetes, 5% had preeclampsia, the average maternal weight was 64.8 ± 11.4 kg, the average height was 1.53 ± 0.07 m, the average newborn weight was 2975 ± 575 g, 5% had fetal distress, 11% had descent dystocia, and 3% had dilation dystocia. The cutoff point for the dystocia index was found by finding the maximum sum of sensitivity and specificity through the ROC curve, establishing this point at ≥ 30.55, with a sensitivity of 73%, specificity of 73%, PPV of 68.3%, and NPV of 77.3%, area under the curve of 0.744. CONCLUSIONS: The dystocia index is a predictor of the type of patients at the Belén de Trujillo Hospital during the period 2021 to 2022.
