to determine the maternal age at risk for the development of cerebral intraventricular hemorrhage in premature newborns. Material and Methods: a retrospective analytical observational study of cases and controls was carried out. The population consisted of 86 patients: 43 premature newborns with cerebral intraventricular hemorrhage and 43 newborns without cerebral intraventricular hemorrhage. Results: the age of the pregnant woman was not significant in the increase of cerebral intraventricular hemorrhage. The bivariate regression model shows that female sex, weight <2500 g, gestational age <28 weeks, APGAR at minute of life <7 points, neonatal resuscitation and mechanical ventilation are at greater risk for cerebral intraventricular hemorrhage. Conclusions: it is concluded that maternal age is not a risk factor for cerebral intraventricular hemorrhage in premature newborns.
