In the present investigation, we have aimed to determine the percentage of addition of fan shell in the affirmed material of the La Obrilla quarry. To improve and be used as a pavement sub-base material. A quasi-experimental design was applied where the fan shell and the affirmed material intervened, which were initially analyzed separately and then together using two mixtures (shell and solid ground), which helped us to identify the proportion of shell fan and affirmed material. In this context, the physical and mechanical properties of the mixtures were evaluated through laboratory tests of soils such as granulometric analysis (MTC E107 - E109), soluble salt content (MTC E 219 Standard), abrasion (Standard ASTM C - 131), sand equivalent (ASTM D - 2419), flat and elongated particles (ASTM D 4791), CBR (MTC E132), modified proctor (MTC E 115), liquid limit (ASTM D423-66) and plastic limit (ASTM D424 -59). The results were quite encouraging as Mix 1 met the standards required by EG 2013. The CBR of the affirmed material was improved by a maximum value of 53.8%, as well as the plasticity index of the material was reduced by 6%, also in the granulometric analysis, the granulometric curve fit within the envelopes of gradation B for subbase material in areas less than 3000 meters above sea level. Therefore, it is concluded that it is possible to use mixture 1; corresponding to 35% of shell and 65% solid ground from La Obrilla quarry since it meets the requirements established in the EG - 2013
