The objective of this thesis is to determine which is the best proposal for a rolling dam in the Chicama river, near the town of Cojitambo, for this the topographic study was carried out using a total station and drone, with which I proposed 3 possible locations, doing the calculation using the ArcMap software and with the calculations of the Elevation-Area-Volume Curve obtaining the reservoir volumes, 25.71 MMC for the first proposal, 16.88 MMC in the second proposal and 18.68 MMC for the third proposal. A flow analysis was also made, using information collected from the Senamhi page, the record I found is the daily flows of 48 years, between the years 1971 and 2018; Calculating an average daily flow of 286.08 (m3 / s), we were also able to record a maximum of 1416.73 (m3 / s) that occurred in 1998 and a minimum of 37.24 (m3 / s) in 2018. To calculate the intensity of rain, we had to collect some data from the daily rainfall record of the Huamachuco station, which is located at a height of 3,290 meters above sea level, located in the Sierra area in subzone 5-a8, whereby by means of the Hydroiila software we calculate the precipitations in the 170 minutes of rain, with intervals of 5 minutes, calculated for a return period equal to 100 years, with these results we can enter the Hec Hms software to calculate the inlet flow, having calculated a peak flow 1565.40 (m3 / s). Later we defined the characteristics of the dam of the proposal that we chose as the most favorable of the 3, in this case it is the one that impounds a volume of 25.71 MMC, with a length of 366.91 meters, the height of the dam is 32 meters, We also calculate the length of the spillway which is 50 meters, 9 meters wide at the spillway crown and a height of 3 meters; With this we will achieve a lamination of 1161.68 (m3 / s). Being a clay core earthen dam (Waterproof Material), with 2: 1 (H: V) slope shoulders both upstream and downstream.
