To determine the relationship between non-exclusive breastfeeding and the first grade of primary school performance at the Carlos Gutiérrez Noriega Educational Center. Material and methods: The study was analytical, observational, retrospective, cross-sectional, which included 62 students in the first level of basic primary, collecting information through surveys, data obtained such as breastfeeding, sociodemographic aspects and family functionality of the mother, after the end of classes, obtain information on school performance, as a statistical test, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to observe the significance of the association between the variables under study. Results: The average age of the students was 6.95 years. The age range was from 6.60 to 7.9 years, there were more men with 61.29% than women 38.71%. The most frequent socioeconomic level was level (E) for the 62 mothers in the study. The most frequent level of instruction in mothers was incomplete high school with 41.94%, on the other hand, the least frequent was incomplete university study with 1.6% and complete high school 37.1% of mothers, with respect to marital status, 22.58% were married, 38.71% cohabiting and 38.71% as a single mother. Family functionality according to the mother, normal functionality was the most frequent, with 53.23% and in general dysfunction with 46.77% in mothers. The ODD ratio obtained was 1.044, with a 95% confidence interval, an upper limit of 10.0048 and a lower limit of 0.10811, showing that non-exclusive breastfeeding shows no relationship with school performance in the Carlos Gutiérrez educational center. Noriega, and there may be other influencing factors, which here are not subjects of study. Conclusions: Non-exclusive breastfeeding is not related to outstanding achievement (AD) and expected achievement (A), in children of the first grade of primary school of the Carlos Gutiérrez Noriega educational
