To determine if the degree of anemia is a risk factor in postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony in patients treated at the Belen Hospital of Trujillo during the period of 2010-2021. Material and methods: An analytical, case-control, retrospective study was carried out, in which 150 pregnant women were included, according to selection criteria, which were divided according to the presence or not of postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony. calculated the chi-square and the odds ratio statistic. Results: In this study, we concluded that mild anemia is a risk factor for postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony with an odds ratio of 3.99 which was significant (p<0.05), moderate anemia is a risk factor for postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony with an odds ratio of 6.49 which was significant (p<0.05), and also severe anemia is a risk factor for postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony with an odds ratio of 14.25 which was significant (p<0.05). On the other hand, no significant differences were observed regarding the variables age group, route of delivery by cesarean section, inadequate prenatal control, low educational level or multiparity between pregnant women with or without postpartum hemorrhage (p>0.05). Conclusion: the degree of anemia is a risk factor for postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony in patients treated at the Belen Hospital of Trujillo during the period of 2010- 2021.
