Objective: Describe the pathologies present in full-term Macrosomic Newborns during the First 24 Hours of life in Hospital III-1 Essalud José Cayetano Heredia Piura 2018. Methodology: Observational, analytical, retrospective cross-sectional study of secondary information source. Population: full-term macrosomic newborns in their first 24 hours of life in Hospital III-1 EsSalud José Cayetano Heredia Piura from January to December of 2018, being a total of 138 children, the sample calculated with the formula of expected proportions with the Epi Info sofware, leaving a total of 86 Newborns and the method of non-random choice for convenience Results: The prevalence of macrosomic newborns was 6.32%. The predominant sex was the male in 76.74%, the gestational age per capurro test was 39.32 weeks, the average weight of 4.2 kg and the height of 51 cm, 92% were in grade I macrosomia (4 - 4.499 kg ), only 1% weighed more than 5 kg. In the characteristics of the birth, 83.72% were by caesarean section, 96.51% of cephalic presentation and 76.74% of multiparous women, the gestational age was 39 weeks in 34.88%. The most frequent pathologies were hypoglycemia with 27.91% followed by caput in 13.95%. respiratory distress with 8.14% and jaundice with 3.49%, neonatal asphyxiation with 1.16% as well as cephalohematoma. When performing the multivariate analysis, breech birth was found as a factor associated with hypoglycemia since it increases the prevalence rate of hypoglycemia by 1.06 times (p <0.01, RPa 1.06 CI = 1.02-1.1). As factors associated with caput we find the female sex, increasing by 1.14 times the prevalence ratio of caput (p = 0.02, RPa 1.14 CI = 1.01-1.27), and multiparous gestation increases the prevalence ratio of caput by 3.54 times (p <0.01, RPa 3.54 IC = 2.14-5.84). Regarding respiratory distress, it was found that grade I macrosomia and cesarean delivery increases 1.36 times (p <0.01, RPa 1.36 CI = 1.08-1.7) and 1.4 times (p <0.01, Rpa1.4 IC = 1.3- 1.4) the reason of prevalence. Conclusion: The pathologies found in full-term Macrosomic Newborns during the First 24 Hours of life were associated: breech birth with hypoglycemia, female sex and multiparousness with the presence of caput sucedaneum, caesarean section and grade I macrosomia with respiratory distress.
