Objective: To identify Arterial Hypertension as a risk factors with Benign Prostate Hyperplasia in adults patients at Belén hospital of Trujillo attended in the period January 2013 – December 2017. Material and methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case - control study was conducted; the study group consisted of 366 patients between 50 and 70 years of age, it was divided into 2 groups: 122 patients with Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (cases) and 244 patients without Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (controls), data were extracted medical records that met the selection criteria, was calculated Odss Ratio (OR) and was applied the Chi square statistical test to validate the association of arterial hypertension with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Results: The average age was 69.8 years in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, and 67.7 years in patients without benign prostatic hyperplasia. Arterial hypertension (OR: 2.42; p <0.05) is a statistically significant risk factor for benign prostatic hyperplasia. The frequency of diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia and obesity were significantly higher in the cases compared to the control group (p <0.05). In the multivariate analysis through logistic regression, the significance of the risk for the variables: arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia and obesity as risk factors for benign prostatic hyperplasia is corroborated. Conclusion: Arterial Hypertension is a risk factor for Benign Prostate Hyperplasia in patients of the Belén hospital of Trujillo in the period January 2013 – December 2017.
