The purpose of this thesis is to propose an inventory management system based on the type of demand for the product, to reduce the cost of inventories in the distribution company Inversiones Pucará S.A.C, located at Av. Pucará-Mz E Lt 10 Mcdo. The Hermelinda-Manpuesto. The study began with an interview the distributor's manager in order to obtain information related to the types of products, the way in which orders are placed, how often it is made and what is the waiting time for the products, in this way identify which are the products that are in greatest demand, for which the ABC analysis and Pareto diagram were used, where 15 products of class A were obtained, from a total of 43 products. Then the type of demand of the main products was analyzed, by applying the coefficient of variation and determining the best inventory model for the type of demand; where it was obtained that the 15 products have a variable demand, for this case it was decided to develop the P model. Finally, the economic impact of the current scenario was determined where the inventory cost was S / 951,950.48 and the scenario with the proposed inventory management system where the inventory cost was reduced to S / 625,807.51. Obtaining a saving of 34%, which are very useful for the company
