The present research was focused on the study of the performance of the polarization diversity in the uplink signal of a cellular station, by varying the declination angle or downtilt by simulation. For this, a small town located in a rural area of the Department of La Libertad was taken as a reference, evaluating their performance based on comparative criteria of average level and uplink signal variability with respect to horizontal and vertical polarizations. The results obtained for the performance of polarization diversity showed an increase in signal variability between 11 dB to 22 dB with the increase in the downtilt angle between 0° and 10°. Likewise, an increase in the average reception level between -88.2 dBm to -85.4 dBm was identified with a favorable limit angle of up to 7° downtilt, from which the average signal begins to decrease. Regarding the comparison with orthogonal polarizations, the horizontal polarization is the one that obtained the most unfavorable indicators of variability and average of the uplink signal
