The Drug Reaction Syndrome with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) also called Drug Induced Hypersensitivity Syndrome (DIHS) is a set of signs and symptoms characterized by the appearance of the triad mucocutaneous eruption, hematological alterations and systemic-visceral involvement, being very frequent the presence of fever and eosinophilia. The incidence ranges from 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 10,000 exposures. Its importance lies in the high mortality, which can reach up to 30%. The case of a 21-year-old patient is presented, who after self-medicating and visiting a dermatologist for presenting acne on the face, taking drugs such as Doxycycline for a period of 3 weeks, began with abrasions on the skin on the face and then spread to whole body. He was managed with intravenous corticosteroid and intravenous hydration and was followed for a period of 4 months. It is concluded that adequate knowledge of the etiology and pathogenesis of DRESS syndrome will help us in the best therapeutic approach avoiding serious complications
