To determine if pregestational obesity and excessive gestational weight gain are risk factors for macrosomia in neonates treated at the Belen Hospital of Trujillo. Material and methods: Observational, analytical, retrospective case-control study. The sample size was made up of 94 pregnant from the Belén De Trujillo Hospital during the period 2017 - 2021, which were divided into two groups, a case group made up of 47 pregnant with macrosomic products and a control group made up of 47 pregnant gain without macrosomic products. The statistical analysis was performed with the Chi square test and with the calculation of the OR value (Odds Ratio) in addition to its 95% confidence intervals and logistic regression. Results: Pregestational obesity (p=0.005, OR=4.241 95% CI [11.5-11.989]), excessive gestational weight gain (p=0.002, OR=4.615 95% CI [1.719-12.392]) and male sex (p =0.013, ORa=3.338 95% CI [1.294-8.610]) were risk factors for macrosomia in neonates treated at the Belén De Trujillo Hospital. Conclusion: Pregestational obesity and excessive gestational weight gain are risk factors for macrosomia in neonates treated at the Trujillo Belen Hospital.
