Objective Determine the choice of route of delivery in patients treated at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo, with a history of vaginal delivery and cesarean section. Material y Methods The study design is observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional. The population was made up of 110 women treated in the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo, to whom the “Birth Experience Questionnaire” was applied to evaluate the experience of childbirth; and a data collection sheet, to determine which delivery route they would choose based on their experience. Results It was found that 72.7% chose vaginal delivery and 27.3% chose cesarean section. Furthermore, a statistically significant association was found with the level of education (p = 0.01). However, no significant association was found between the choice of delivery route and the birth experience (p = 0.56). In the bivariate analysis, no significant association was found between the choice of delivery route and the negative (p = 0.87) or positive (p = 0.28) experience, but there was a significant association with the level of secondary education. complete (p= 0.01). Conclusions The preferred route of choice for women is vaginal delivery over cesarean section. No statistically significant association was found between the choice of delivery route and the birth experience; however, this choice was significantly affected by the level of education
