To determine whether there is an association between age, sex, number of income, number of exacerbations, degree of dyspnoea, VEF1, cystic bronchiectasis and Pseudomona aeruginosa infection in patients with bronchiectasis treated at the Belen Hospital in Trujillo during the period January 2017 – January 2019. METHODOLOGY: An observational, retrospective case and control study was developed in a 1:1 ratio. The sample was determined by all patients served in the Pneumology Service during the period January 2017 to January 2019, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a total of 90 patients for cases and 90 patients for the checks, where risk factors were analyzed. For the analysis a database was used in the Excel 2016 program and then moved to SPSS 26, software in which all statistical analysis was performed. Pearson's Chi Square test with OR risk measurement was used with its respective 95% confidence Interval. RESULTS: As for the following factors: number of income, number of exacerbations, degree of dyspnoea, cystic bronchiectasis, considering the significance level of 5%, they have statistically significant association (<0.05) concluding that these factors have a direct and significant association with Pseudomona aeruginosa infection; on the other hand, age, sex and VEF1 have no significant association with Pseudomona aeruginosa infection. CONCLUSIONS: The number of income, number of exacerbations, degree of dyspnoea, VEF1, cystic bronchiectasis are associated with Pseudomona aeruginosa infection, while age, sex and VEF1 are not associated with Pseudomona aeruginosa infection in bronchiectasis patients treated at the Bethlehem Hospital in Trujillo.
