Abstract: Objetivo: Determinar la frecuencia de maloclusiones en pacientes de 6 a 12 años
con hipertrofia adenoidea en el Hospital de Alta Complejidad Virgen de La Puerta.
Materiales y métodos: Este estudio observacional y de corte transversal se llevó
a cabo entre los meses de febrero, marzo y abril de 2023 e incluyó un total de 147
pacientes pediátricos de entre 6 a 12 años con el diagnóstico de hipertrofia
adenoidea que acudieron al Servicio de Otorrinolaringología del Hospital Alta
Complejidad Virgen de La Puerta. Para determinar la confiabilidad intra e inter evaluador de la medición clínica, se llevó a cabo un estudio piloto con 30
participantes, resultando valores Kappa superiores al 0.961%. El diagnóstico de la
condición adenoidea fue determinado por el médico Otorrinolaringólogo.
Resultados: Se encontró una alta frecuencia de maloclusión clase II en los
pacientes con hipertrofia adenoidea (76,9% de la totalidad del estudio).
Conclusión: Las malocusiones dentarias con mayor frecuencia halladas en
pacientes con hipertrofia adenoidea fueron la maloclusión clase II y la mordida
abierta. Mientras que el perfil facial con mayor frecuencia fue el convexo, al igual
que el tipo de respiración bucal

CONCLUSION: The most frequent dental malocclusions found in patients with adenoid hypertrophy were class II malocclusion and open bite. The most frequent facial profile was convex, as well as the type of mouth breathing
