This research study is based on analyzing the water systems in the rural area of the Calamarca district, Julcan province in La Libertad region, where, through the diagnosis made in 2018 by the regional health management of the regional government, there is evidence that there are systems at high sanitary risk where low quality of water for human consumption is observed. Thus, the study implements monitoring of parameters such as: operational condition of the infrastructure; service management and operation, maintenance and condition of the sewer system. That is why it was proposed to evaluate the sustainability of each component, in five hamlets of the jurisdiction of Calamarca district, thus finding the sustainability of each water system. In order to analyze the sustainability of the provision of drinking water service in the villages of Calamarca district, the methodology that includes components used by PROPILAS in the Cajamarca region was applied. Likewise, taking as a reference PNSR rural sanitation program indicators, based on the methodological guide of goal 5 of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation, applying formats and annexes for data collection in the five study villages, such as cesar Vallejo, san pedro, capillas, mayahuista and piruay. As a result, 2.56 were found as an index of sustainability for the water system of the hamlet of Cesar Vallejo, 2.58 as an index of sustainability for the water system of the hamlet of San Pedro, 2. 8 as an index of sustainability for the water system of the hamlet of Capillas, 3.09 as an index of sustainability for the water system of the hamlet of Mayahuista and 3.09 as an index of sustainability for the water system of the hamlet of Piruay. All sustainability results are in a state of deterioration, due to the fact that components such as service management, operation and maintenance depend on the low effectiveness and interest of the users and the directors of the JASS services administration board. Therefore, it is concluded taking into account the ranges of the weighting matrix that the water services of the five study villages are in the process of slight deterioration. Keywords: drinking water system, management, operation and maintenance, sustainability, service, service administration board.
