To determine the diagnostic value of the national Ticona curves in comparison with the CLAP curves for the anthropometric evaluation of the term newborn. Material and methods: An analytical, cross-sectional, retrospective and diagnostic test type study was carried out. A sample of 205 medical records belonging to NBs with terms born during the period of January-September 2018 at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo was obtained. Results: When evaluating the weight of the newborn, according to the CLAP assessment, it can be seen that of the total of newborns 6.3% were classified as small for their gestational age, 81.5% as adequate for their gestational age and 12.2% as large for their gestational age, on the other hand, the Ticona percentages were 6.8%, 78.1% and 15.1%, respectively, distinguishing a lot of similarity in the global distribution by categories of the birth weight evaluated with both criteria. According to the table used to evaluate the population of small for gestational age, it was found that the Ticona curve reports values very close to CLAP, especially in the case of negativity. For those suitable for gestational age, it is concluded that the Ticona curve reports values very close to CLAP, especially in the case of sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value. And finally, if it is classified as large for gestational age, using the proposed tables, it can be inferred that the Ticona curve reports values very close to CLAP, especially in the case of sensitivity, specificity and negative predictive value. Conclusion: Considering the very satisfactory indicators of diagnostic discrimination, it allows us to infer that the Ticona curve is a procedure that can satisfactorily substitute the estimation of CLAP
