OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to analyze the association between gestational hyperglycemia in pregnant women with maternal malnutrition attended in two primary care centers in the districts of Piura and Castilla in 2023. MATERIAL AND METHOD: This study was a longitudinal, analytical, prospective cohort design that collected data obtained from the prenatal control card and laboratory data from the medical records of the pregnant women found in each health center and individually. The information was collected using data collection forms. Once the information was collected, the data were entered into an Excel database. Subsequently, they were coded for statistical analysis and subsequent interpretation in the data analysis required to meet the objectives of the thesis. RESULTS: The data collected were taken from the medical records of each health center, which allowed us to demonstrate that pregnant women exposed to pregestational obesity show a consistently higher prevalence of gestational hyperglycemia of 59.7%, 58.3% and 60.8%, respectively, compared to those pregnant women not exposed to obesity, who presented values of 40.3%, 46.5% and 49.7% in each trimester. In turn, we can highlight that pregnant women with pregestational obesity are 1.84 times more likely to develop gestational hyperglycemia, since this increases with pregestational BMI, with more than 60% probability of developing it when the BMI is greater than 30kg/m2. CONCLUSIONS: Pregestational obesity as an indicator of maternal malnutrition is a predictor of gestational hyperglycemia
