With the purpose of knowing the effect of the application of an obstetric physical activity program (PAFO) in the prevention of the development of gestational diabetes (GD), a study was carried out using a single group design with pretest and posttest, in a sample composed of eighty-seven pregnant women from the Aranjuez Health Center in the city of Trujillo in 2021, who met the previously established selection criteria. Two factors that are considered risk for the development of gestational diabetes were analyzed; the glycemic level and weight gain, which were determinants for the classification of the risk of developing gestational diabetes (GD). It was identified that, after the application of the program, 96.6% of the pregnant women had a normal blood glucose level (< 92 mg/dl), likewise, 81.3% of the pregnant women who had an altered blood glucose level in the pretest, they reached the normal level in the posttest. In turn, in 85.1% of the pregnant women, the acquired weight gain was normal (< 0.6 kg/2 weeks) in the post-test, compared to 46.0% of them who also had normal weight gain. in the pretest. It should be noted that 91.5% of pregnant women with altered weight gain in the pretest reached the normal level of weight gain in the posttest. The combined analysis of the risk factors: blood glucose level and weight gain level, showed that after the application of the PAFO (posttest), 81.6% of the pregnant women who participated in the study were considered without risk of developing . of gestational diabetes. The two McNemar statistical tests applied in the statistical analysis of the data when contrasting our hypotheses, yielded values p = .001 < 0.05, allowing us to reject H0 and confirm our research hypothesis that states that the application of the obstetric physical activity program prevent the risk of developing gestational diabetes
