Determine the prevalence of gingival recession in adult patients from the Dental Service of hospitals Victor Lazarte Echegaray and Regional Docente of Trujillo. Trujillo, 2018. Material and methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive and observational study included a total of 200 adult patients from the Dental Service of hospitals Victor Lazarte Echegaray and Regional Docente of Trujillo. A clinical examination was performed to evaluate the prevalence of gingival recession based on Miller Classification. The Kappa statistic was used as a reliable method, obtaining a Kappa = 0.872 for the intraexaminer calibration and a Kappa = 0.659 for the interexaminer calibration. The statistical program SPSS Statistics 22.0 was used in order to analyze results, presenting them in charts and / or graphics. Results: The prevalence of gingival recession was 61%, with Class I predominating (66.5%). The male sex prevailed with 68.85%, as did the age group> 50 years of age with 87.5%. The predominant dental group were mandibular premolars. Similar prevalence was obtained regarding the hospital. Conclusions: The prevalence of gingival recession was 61%, with the mandibular premolars being the teeth that prevailed. The male sex and the age range >50 years of age also predominated.
