The present work arises from the need to solve the existing problems in the wastewater treatment system, which is currently affecting the city of Trujillo-La Libertad, which due to the population growth and the age of the systems of Covicorti and Cortijo wastewater treatment, generates a smaller supply for what the current and future population needs, which is even conditioned its health situation in the not too distant future. Thus, it is foreseen by the comparative analysis of the wastewater treatment systems of Covicorti and the Cortijo with the Treatment Plant of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas-Mexico; to arrive at a conclusion, comparing the parameters of design, technology, performance and maintenance; with a purpose to contribute a study to the improvement of the Plants of Treatment of the city of Trujillo. As a first analysis, we compared the design parameters of the countries of Peru and Mexico that they use for wastewater treatment plants. We then analyze and compare the technology, performance and maintenance plan of Covicorti and Cortijo wastewater treatment plants with the Nuevo Laredo treatment plant. Thus, we realized which of the plants are more effective and that we can do to improve the treatment plants of the city of Trujillo. Finally, we obtained the conclusions of the study that help us to improve the treatment plants of Covicorti and Cortijo for the benefit of the city of Trujillo and the best treated wastewater.
