Objective: To determine if there is an association between the level of knowledge and attitudes in the application of biological biosafety norms in the health care personnel of the emergency area of the Tomas Lafora Hospital - Guadalupe 2017. Material and Methods: An analytical and correlational study was carried out. The sample of the study population consisted of a total of 40 health workers including: Doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, medical interns of the emergency service area of the Tomas Lafora Hospital, which constitutes 100% of the total works in this area and 35% of the total hospital population. A survey on knowledge of biosafety standards and a checklist of attitudes in the application of biosafety standards was needed. To determine the association between knowledge and attitudes in the biosafety application, the data were subjected to a chi-square statistical analysis. Results: It was evidenced that doctors obtained the highest level in terms of knowledge of biosafety standards, as well as a favorable attitude in the application of these; followed by nurses with a medium - high level of knowledge and, in the main, with a favorable attitude; Likewise, nursing technicians and interns maintained a level of knowledge from regular to medium, with an intermediate attitude in their majority. Conclusions: It is concluded that there is an association between the levels of knowledge and attitudes in the application of biological biosafety standards in the health care personnel of the emergency area of the Tomas Lafora Hospital - Guadalupe 2017.
