Introduction Emergency Obstetric Hysterectomy (HOE) is the exeresis of the uterus in a woman either after a birth, abortion or in the puerperium. The purpose of this study is to determine the main indications of HOE as well as the associated factors, recognizing them in a timely manner to offer an optimal management of the pregnant woman and to decrease the maternal mortality rate. Objective To determine the main indications and the factors associated with emergency obstetric hysterectomy in the Hospital Apoyo Sullana II-2 during the year 2017. Methodology It is a qualitative, retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive, observational and non-experimental study, where 17 cases of Emergency Obstetric Hysterectomy occurred in the Hospital Apoyo Sullana during the year 2017 Results During 2017, 17 Emergency Obstetric Hysterectomies were performed at Hospital Apoyo Sullana II-2, 64.70% were between 26 and 35 years old, 88.24% came from a rural area, 76.47% were multiparous, 82.35% they were multi-gestational, 41.18% had more than 6 prenatal check-ups, 71% had at least 1 previous caesarean. The 58.82 %% presented as main indication to uterine atony followed by placental accreta with 11.76% Conclusions The Emergency Obstetric Hysterectomy is related to the multiparity, insufficient prenatal controls and the presence of previous uterine scar, having as main indication the uterine atony.
