Purpose: To determine if pregnant women with obesity have a higher proportion of labor with prolonged active phase. Material and methods: Retrospective cohort based on records of pregnant women with labor, who entered the Jerusalem District Hospital of Trujillo from January 2016 to January 2017. Using the Chi square test (x2) and the measure of association Relative Risk (RR), we analyzed the labor variables prolonged active phase with the presence of obesity (BMI> = 30 kg / m2), with a 95% CI. In addition, the degree of significance was established for the presence of prolonged labor of the variables: maternal age, RN weight, gestational age, parity. Results: The prolonged labor group was represented by 50% and the normal labor group by the other 50%. We found 34 pregnant women with prolonged labor with obesity (BMI> = 30 kg / m2) and 22 in normal labor (RR = 1,987, x2 <0.001, p <0.05, 95% CI: 1.02-3, 89). Conclusion: There is a significant difference between obesity and prolonged labor.
