Establish whether the maternal A, B, O and AB blood group is a risk factor for preeclampsia in pregnant women at the Sullana II-2 Hospital support during the period of January to December 2014. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We conducted an observational, analytical study of population retrospective cohort, were studied 4786 pregnant women, divided into two groups, group I (420 patients with pre-eclampsia) and group II (4366 patients without preeclampsia) treated at the Department of Obstetrics Hospital Sullana II-2 support for the period of January to December 2014. RESULTS: The mean maternal age of the patients in group I was 27.02 ± 7.91 years and group II patients was 25.77 ± 6.97 years (p < 0.01); the mean parity of the patients in group I was 1.41 ± 1.75 children and patients in group II was 1.37 ± 1.53 children (p > 0.05). Regarding the gestational age at birth, it found that in the group I was mean and 36.83 ± 3.06 weeks in group II was 38.45 ± 2.58 weeks (p < 0.001). With respect to the presence and absence of preeclampsia by blood group, the distribution was as follows: Type O (80.71% vs. 80.92%), blood group A (15% vs. 14.02%), blood group B (3.57% vs. 4.60%) and AB (0.72% vs 0.46%) (p > 0.05) blood group. CONCLUSIONS: No association between different A, B, O y AB blood groups and the presence of preeclampsia was observed.
