OBJETIVE: To assess the association between preeclampsia and smallfor-gestational-age infants less than 34 weeks, attended in the Hospital Belen of Trujillo, in the period from 2013 to 2015. MATERIAL AND METHOD: the conducted a study observational, analytical, of case and controls, that 79 women with preeclampsia severe and 79 without preeclampsia severe. RESULTS: the incidence of infants small for her age gestational (PEG) minor of 34 weeks in the preeclampsia severe was 15.2%; and in the not preeclampsia severe was 2.5%, finding was difference statistics in both cohorts (p = 0.005). A RR = 6.0 was found with CI 95% of 1.38 to 24.94. The fraction or irrigation attributable in the population (RAP) was 83%, and the fraction attributable to them exposed (FAE) indicates that the 71% of the incidence of PEG < 34 weeks is must to the made of have preeclampsia severe. CONCLUSIONS: the incidence of infants small for age gestational lower to 34 weeks in pregnant with pre-eclampsia severe was greater in comparison with the not preeclampsia severe. Severe pre-eclampsia is associated as a risk factor for small-for-gestational age less than 34 weeks
