To determine the clinical and epidemiological profile of patients with nosocomial infection by Acinetobacter Baumanni in Hospital Cayetano Heredia III during the period January 2012 to December 2014. MATERIAL AND METHODS: An observational, retrospective, cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at the Regional Hospital III José Cayetano Heredia in Piura, where 133 patients with nosocomial infection by Acinetobacter Baumanni, 50 patients in 2012, 52 patients were studied in 2013 and 31 patients in 2014. RESULTS: The incidence of intra-hospital infection by A. Baumanni was 10%, 10% and 6% for 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively. Of the 133 patients studied, the mean age was 56.2 years, 56% were male, 72% of patients had comorbidities, the most frequent 56% was Hypertension; and 65% had more a previous hospitalization. The most frequent cause of admission to hospital was 18% Surgical Acute Abdomen, being the mean hospital stay of 38.9 days and the time of hospitalization prior to the cultivation of 17.06 days. The Intermediate Care Unit was service with the highest percentage of intra-hospital infection by A. Baumanni with 37%, and also showed greater service multiresistance 92% and that present the highest mortality of 37%. 95% of patients were exposed to invasive procedures, while 97% received prior antibiotic therapy, the most frequent ceftriaxone, which was used in 53% of the population. The most frequent type of infection was associated pneumonia mechanical fan that was presented in 65% of the population, being a rate of sepsis as a complication of 80%. 90% were multiresistant Acinetobacter baumanni. The most sensitive antibiotic tetracycline was 28% and was resistant Ampicillin-Sulbactam Less than 54% of resistance. Carbapenems resistance of 80% was observed. A mortality of 32% was evident. Conclusions 133 patients with Acinetobacter baumanni-hospital infection, with an incidence of 10%, 10% and 6% for the years 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively were studied. The mortality rate was 32%, and similar to other series. It was found that Antibiotic resistance was higher than the other studies Worldwide and National, Concluding a high rate of multidrug resistance of 90%, even Carbapenems which was 80%.
