The wastewater treatment system for the Moche and Salaverry districts, located in the south west of the city of Trujillo, is composed of three wastewater treatment plants that process the tributaries of six accounts: Moche Pueblo, Las Delicias, Taquila, Miramar, Alto Salaverry and Salaverry Pueblo. The WWTPs consist of stabilization ponds with primary and secondary treatments; however, the chemical tests performed on the effluents do not comply with the parameters established by SUNASS, especially the Biological Oxygen Demand and the concentration of coliforms, by pouring contaminated water into the sea. In this sense, in the present work it is proposed to carry out a diagnosis of the situational status of the WWTPs, in order to verify the problematic of the treatment systems used, as well as their capacity to process the residual waters of the mentioned basins, with a focus which allows to minimize the complexity of the operation and maintenance of the different plants and allows the reuse of the waters in agricultural projects, the production of gas and fertilizers in order to contribute to mitigate the environmental impact caused by these plants. For this purpose, the operation and maintenance status has been investigated in the field, relevant information has been collected from the concessionaire's service company, and professional personnel have been interviewed in order to arrive at a coherent diagnosis that determines elements of judgment that allow to design at the level of preliminary draft a WWTP that meets the formal requirements and the fundamental purpose of the present investigation. As a result of the diagnosis, the unification of the tributaries is proposed in a single WWTP, located in the place where the WWTP of the Port of Salaverry currently occupies, and a wastewater treatment plant with primary, secondary and tertiary processes has been designed, using the system of activated sludge and with a final disinfection of the effluent, it is finally proposed that the decontaminated water be used in irrigation of gardens, highstalk plantations or cleaning in general and that sludge can also be used in the production of fertilizers and production end of gas as a combustible product.
