We evaluated 30 Canis familiaris, adults, from 1 to 5 years old, races, sexes and over 5 kg clinically healthy, in the city of Chimbote; which were randomly distributed in two groups, who received intramuscular ketoprofen at doses of 1 and 2 mg / kg respectively, for three days, in order to determine the gastrolesive effect of ketoprofen, by finding occult blood in feces demonstrated by The Thevenon Test, resulting that the administration of intramuscular ketoprofen induced in patients the presence of occult blood in feces in 56.67% of the total, of which 40% and 73.33% were for those treated with 1 mg and 2 mg respectively. When comparing the blood counts of pre and post-treated patients; there was a slight decrease in hematocrit and eosinophils, however there were increases in platelets and leukocytes. When comparing blood count and blood chemistry values per treatment dose, there were no statistical differences between them. However, the serum activity of transaminases ALT and AST showed significant increases compatible with active hepatic necrosis after exposure. It can be stated that the administration of intramuscular ketoprofen induces dose-dependent gastrolesion, inflammatory hepatitis and slight changes in the blood count.
