In the present work, the influence of polypropylene macro-fibers and the shape of the coarse aggregate on the toughness of the concrete manufactured with portland type GU cement was determined. A total of 90 specimens were prepared, according to the UNE 83504 and UNE 83502 standards, with 0, 3, 4, 6 and 8 kg of polypropylene fiber per cubic meter of concrete. The concrete was dosed with a / c ratios of 0.43, 0.48 and 0.55, coarse aggregate of angular and irregular shape, with a maximum nominal size of ¾ ““. Said test tubes were subjected to the double punching test in accordance with the UNE 83515 standard. Concluding that for the mixtures of concrete with coarse aggregate of irregular shape and maximum nominal size of ¾ ““, an increase of the tenacity was observed as the dosage of fibers was increasing, but it did not manage to definitively optimize the tenacity in the concrete; and for concrete mixtures with coarse aggregate of angular shape and maximum nominal size of ¾ ““, they obtained the highest increase in toughness for a dosage of 4 kg / m3, these being 504.50 Joules for an a / c ratio of 0.43, 440.04 Joules for an a / c ratio of 0.48 and 417.20 Joules for an a / c ratio of 0.55.
