In this research we evaluated the influence of the Percentage of Class C Fly Ash in the Potential of Corrosion of Steel A615 embedded in concrete made with Portland cement type I. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal percentage of fly ash must be replaced in a concrete made with Type I cement to reduce the potential for corrosion of steel embedded in concrete. The percentages of fly ash studied were 5, 10 and 15 % in replacement of cement. With regard to/c = 0.50, 0.55 and 0.60. We prepared pieces of 4x8 inch, which was introduced in its interior a reinforcing steel bar of 5/8 of an inch in diameter, with a length of 25cm, to assess the potential for corrosion resistance according to ASTM C876. At the same time prepared pieces of 15x30 cm for the test of resistance to the compression according to ASTM C109. The results for the relationship a/c = 0.50, concerning the compression test, show an acceptable resistance to 5% replacement of fly ash in the structure of the concrete with a resistance of 292.23 kg/cm2, similar to the mixture of control with 294.10 kg/cm2, being the variation less than 1%; and for the testing of the half-cell shows that the results of the potential corrosion less negative were obtained with the 5% replacement of fly ash, evaluated during 9 weeks. For the relationship a/c = 0.55, concerning the compression test show an acceptable resistance to 5% replacement of fly ash in concrete with a value of 245.80 Kg/cm2 to 28 days; and for the testing of the half-cell shows that the results of potential corrosion less negative is obtained with the replacement of 5% of fly ash, during 9 weeks. For the relationship a/c = 0.60, concerning the compression test show a resistance that descends reasonably to the replacement 5% of fly ash in concrete structure with a value of 206.50 Kg/cm2 to 28 days; and for the testing of the half-cell shows that the result of corrosion potential less negative was obtained with 5% of incorporation of fly ash, evaluated during 9 weeks.
