The purpose of this thesis is to know the relevance of the height of the structure in variations of internal forces of the structural elements and the displacements in a structural analysis including the effective stiffness, then geometric non-linearity and the initial imperfections with respect to an elastic structural analysis. In order to know the relevance of height of the building, a structure composed of concrete shear walls was proposed in the corners, around the staircase and elevator shaft, with columns inside of the building, these vertical elements are connected by beams, forming a series of frames and coupled walls. This configuration is maintained in all the buildings analyzed, varying the dimensions of the cross sections of the columns and beams, the thickness of the walls and the strength of the concrete (f'c of 210 kg / cm 2 for buildings of 4 and 6 floors, and 280 kg / cm 2 for buildings of 8 and 10 floors). For the development of the ““ERNI Analysis““ (Structural Analysis including the effective stiffness, the geometric non-linearity and the initial imperfections), several investigations about the effective stiffness accepted by the ACI were reviewed, taking those that better predict the behavior of the elements in a simple way. Second order effects were modeled by secondary shear forces and a method was proposed to represent the initial imperfections by means of notional loads based on the tolerances allowed by the ACI 117-10 about of the deviation of plumb. Because the ERNI Analysis requires a large data process, a computer tool called ARE2015 was created that processes the structural analysis information made in the ETABS, generating new data to be sent to the ETABS by creating a series of cycles. Knowing that finding the exact solution of ERNI Analysis leads to a large consumption of computer resources and time for this reason an allowable tolerance of relative displacements of 0.05 mm was established. In this way, the analyzes were carried out successfully demonstrating that the ERNI Analysis in comparison with the Elastic Analysis there are increments in the displacements which are directly proportional to the height of the structure and also increases in the internal forces of great relevance in the structural elements which are important in the lateral stiffness of the structure as are the walls in this study.
