The present study is aimed at a basic aspect of the communication area; understanding of narrative nonfiction story production, for it has taken into account the development of an explanatory research quantitatively where the problem posed is: On this basis the overall objective was: Demonstrate how the implementation of the Strategy of Teaching based on semantic maps improves the level of understanding of non-literary narrative texts. And the hypothesis tested is: if we apply the Strategy of Teaching based on semantic maps improves the level of understanding of non-literary narrative texts in the students of the second grade of Secondary Education in the Educational Institution Santa Monica Piura city Piura 2016. For this study, we worked with a population consisting of 160 students, with a nonrandom sample (purposive sampling) consisting of 80 students distributed in the ““A““ (experimental group) and the ““C““ section (control group) was used a quasi-experimental design with two groups: experimental and control, with pretest and post test; data have been processed, analyzed and interpreted statistically.
