Demonstrate if the hypoalbuminaemia is a factor associated with the hospitalization in the Hospital Víctor Lazarte Echegaray’s dialysis patients Material and Methods: A cohort study was carried out, which was also an analytical, observational, retrospective and cross-sectional study; where the population of the study was constituted by 108 dialysis patients, according to the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, overall who have the level of serum albumin at the beginning of the hospitalization, in the last 5 years. Results: The present study demonstrated a significant difference between hypoalbuminemia and hospitalization in dialysis patients at Víctor Lazarte Echegaray’s Hospital (p: 0.0010.05) in addition to a value of x2 of 11.76, an RR of 1.4 and an IC: 1.1-1.7. The incidence of hospitalization in dialysis patients with hypoalbuminemia was 95%, while in those with normal serum albumin levels it was 66.18%. Thus, a significant difference was found between hypoalbuminemia and hospitalization in regard to the male gender (p: 0.009) (x2: 6,695; CI: 1,158-2,097), hemodialysis (p: 0.000) (x2: 12,772; IC: 1323-2.024 ), a dialysis time greater than 3 years (p: 0.009) (x2: 6.432; IC: 1.107-1.677); and finally in regard to diabetes mellitus + arterial hypertension as the cause of dialysis’ beginning (p: 0.001) (x2: 10.643; CI: 1.262-2.528). The infectious complications were the most frequent reason for hospitalization in dialysis patients with hypoalbuminemia, with a percentage of 23.68%. Conclusions: Hypoalbuminemia causes a 1.4-fold risk in the increase of hospitalization in dialysis patients. The incidence of hospitalization in dialysis patients with hypoalbuminemia was 95%, and in those who were also submitted to hemodialysis, it was 100%; while in those patients who were submitted peritoneal dialysis, it was 87.5%. The most frequent complications in dialysis patients with hypoalbuminemia were the infectious type with a percentage of 23.68%.
