To determine whether Jaundice in infants terms are related to weight and days of hospitalization in Chulucanas Hospital during the years 2013-2014. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective observational was performed. A total of 164 medical records of infants with jaundice. During the period from January 2013 to December 2014. For a total sample size of 80 patients was estimated reviewed, they met the inclusion criteria. RESULTS: The correlation coefficient between the percentage of weight loss and total bilirubin levels was significant 0,253 (p<0.05), There is a correlation between the levels of total bilirubin and the age in hours 0,711 (p<0.01);The correlation coefficient for age in hours and weight loss of 0,215 (p>0.05), and there is no relationship between the two. Also it was concluded, there was no correlation between bilirubin levels and the length of hospital stay 0,207 (p>0.05). Furthermore, this study found that the average age of entry which was 58.26 hours. The average number of percentage weight loss at birth was 4.40% and the average number of days of hospital stay was 2.475 days, being preferred treatment 100% phototherapy. According to gender, in 2013 the majority of patients were male with 51.6%, and by 2014 a predominance of females 51.0 %. CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate that there is a relationship between the percentage of weight loss with age in hours and bilirubin levels in newborns at term.But there is no correlation between the two variables and total bilirubin weight loss. In addition, no correlation was found between days of hospitalization and total bilirubin.
