Anemia during gestation is a public health problem, which the Ministry of Health has addressed through free supplementation with ferrous sulfate. In spite of the advantages offered by its intake, a considerable group of pregnant women does not comply with the treatment. The objective of the study is to demonstrate the association between some factors with non-compliance with the intake of ferrous sulfate in pregnant women aged 15-35 at the Santa Isabel Distrital Hospital, June 2016. It was an observational study with descriptive cross-sectional descriptive design, and a sample of 80 pregnant women. Non-compliance in the intake of ferrous sulphate is observed in 21.2% of the pregnant women who were part of the study. Parity (p = 0.030), the presence of hyperemesis gravidarum (p = 0.018), were significantly associated with non-compliance with ferrous sulfate intake; (P = 0.027), headache (p = 0.001), taste of the supplement (p = 0.040), and other discomfort (0.029). It is concluded that it is necessary to realize strategies that allow the correct information of the pregnant women about the consumption of ferrous sulfate, as well as to create alternatives that diminish their side effects.
