The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of carbon dioxide on the calcium hydroxide composition exposed to different times. The study was of prospective, longitudinal, comparative and experimental type, consisting of samples of 0.06g Ca(OH) 2 powder, exposed at times of 5, 15, 30, 60, 75, 90 and 105 seconds; which were selected using the probabilistic method. Three systems were analyzed. Each system consisted in measuring the pH of different samples of 0.06 g of Ca(OH) 2 exposed to the times of 5, 15, 30, 60, 75, 90 and 105 seconds, performing 3 repetitions for each time, making a total of 21 repetitions per system, which is equivalent to 63 repetitions in total. The potentiometer (Metrohm, Model 691) was used to determine potentiometrically the concentration of Ca(OH) 2. The data obtained were processed by simple linear regression analysis using the Microsoft Office Excel 2010 program. A descriptive analysis was used using averages such as arithmetic mean. The results were represented in tables and graphs according to the stated objectives, establishing a level of significance of 5% to 95% of reliability. The results of the Ca (OH) 2 pH were 12.5 and a concentration of 0.0573g for all systems and times exposed. Where it was concluded that carbon dioxide does not have a significant effect on the composition of the calcium hydroxide powder when exposed to the environment during the different times exposed.
