The present thesis entitled “Occupational Health and Safety System design according to the norm OHSAS 18001 standard to reduce the cost of SUNAFIL’s penalt y in the production area of the company Active Life, Lima““ tests the application of topics taught along the career of industrial engineering, such as the study to improve working conditions and provide a safe and healthy environment by proposing the implementation of a Health, Safety and Occupational Security System (HSOS). The design of this system will seek to avoid the economic penalty imposed by SUNAFIL (National Superintendence of Labor Inspection in English) to the company Active Life, for not having a HSOS. The problem that the company is facing is the economic penalty imposed by SUNAFIL, which would be S/. 132,720.00, for not having a HSOS. The best alternative that the company would have would be to implement this area within the company in order to avoid the penalty imposed. The first thing that was done to design this system was to propose the formation of the Committee on Safety and Health at Work. These will be the ones that approve the different issues in the HSOS; this procedure was consulted in the SUNAFIL implementation manual. Subsequently, proposals were made for the Occupational Health and Safety Policy of the company, which reflects management's commitment to HSOS issues. The items of these proposals were derived from the requirements of the norm OHSAS 18001: 2007. Subsequent to this, the matrix entitled “Baseline Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)” was develop because it is the first time is being done. The matrix and the description of how to do it were obtained from the report titled “IPER” from BS group. Through this, it was possible to establish a documented procedure for the continuous identification of the most risky activities and to determine the necessary controls to reduce them. Finally, the risk map of the company was elaborated, the different signs for security to realize this map comes from the document ent itled “Norma Técnica Peruana NTP 399.010. With the elaboration of this, it was possible to have a greater prevention of the risky places that exist in the plant and to be accessible for all employees. In this way it was possible to reduce the cost of the penalty imposed by SUNAFIL in 12.25 UIT (Peruvian Tax Unit).
