Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is the presence of symptoms and / or signs of peripheral nerve dysfunction of the lower limbs in diabetics after exclusion of other causes and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a syndrome characterized by macro vascular changes without coronary artery, aortic or cerebral involvement in diabetics. Thirty three diabetic patients of type 2 , evaluated in a public hospital and a private medical center in the city of Trujillo-Peru as part of a cross-sectional study of diagnostic test type for a neurological test (NT) represented by vibrating- tactile sensitivity and arterial test (AT) represented by the ankle-brachial index according to the International Working Group on Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) compared with a standard neurological test called neuropathy instrument for Michigan and standard arterial test called duplex Doppler ultrasound aimed at determining accuracy of diagnostic tests referred to as sensitivity (S) to NT and AT respectively, specificity (SP), positive predictive value (PPV) and positive likelihood ratio (RVP) .It has founded : S 100% and 73,3% to NT and AT respectively , SP 90% and 56,3% to NT and AT respectively ,PPV 25% and 61, 6% to NT and AT respectively ,RVP 10% and 1,7% to NT and AT respectively, prevalence(P) in DPN of 3,2% and P in PAD of 48,4%. The NT and AT according IWGDF serve to detect DPN and PAD in type 2 diabetics with high accuracy.
