Grounds contaminated by animal parasites can constitute zoonosis risk for the human being. It is important to determine the dynamics of the transmission of embryonated eggs of Toxocara canis. The aim of this study was to assess the level of contamination of recreational parks with T. canis eggs in La Esperanza district, Trujillo, Peru. The study was descriptive, transversal. In the months from January to March 2015, 84 samples of turf (n = 84) coming from 21 recreational parks of the district were evaluated in La Esperanza. In each park 4 samples of 50 g each one were collected in four equidistant points (four lateral at random) and to a depth of 3 cm. Samples were kept in refrigeration for parasitology for 2-3 days. The samples were analyzed using the method supersaturated solution with sodium chloride (Willis Modified) for flotation of eggs. From the study a prevalence of 28% of positive parks to Toxocara canis eggs was obtained that determines a moderate level of contamination in La Esperanza district, Trujillo, Peru Constituting a risk for the public health, being due to adopt the pertinent measures of prevention and control.
