The Chi square test was used for statistical analysis and a statistically significant association was considered at p <0.05. The Odss Ratio was the statistician used in the study. Results: The frequency of newborns with low birth weight; Children of mothers who, if they presented preeclampsia is of 88%; And that 62% of newborns without low birth weight are the children of mothers who presented with preeclampsia, obtaining an odds ratio of 3.47 (95% CI: 1.28 - 9.38), evidencing a statistically significant association (p˂0.05).
