The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of an additive based on canthaxanthin and calcium pidolate in laying hens diets and their effect on egg quality. The tests were carried out in the poultry farm ““SANTOS S.A.C““ located in the district of San Pedro de Lloc, province of Pacasmayo region the Freedom. Two diets were prepared: DB (base diet), DBCPC (base diet with 0.2% canthaxanthin and calcium pidolate); Made up of 40g of canthaxanthin and 300g of calcium pidolate. With these diets, 100 laying hens of the Babcook Bronw line of 72 weeks of age were fed for a period of six weeks. The study was a completely randomized design with two treatments with ten replicates. Egg weight (g) was evaluated; Albumin height (mm); Haugh units, yolk color, rupture strength (kgf), shell thickness (mm), to the results of which were applied the analysis of variance and the Tukey test, even a 95% confidence level. There was no significant difference on egg quality except egg yolk coloration, where DBCPC treatment obtained significant difference. The use of cantaxatin and calcium pidolate in diets of laying hens had an effect on the quality of the egg, only improving the yolk coloration.
