It was determined the effect of Lepidium meyenii (maca) ecotype red in spatial memory and levels (of concentration in the tissue of the brain) of malondialdehyde (MDA) of Rattus rattus var. Albinus females, radiated by the waves of mobile phones with second-generation answered calls for 30 minutes for 7 days. They were subjected 36 specimens of 200 - 250 g in weight, with 3 months of age, who were ovariectomized 80 days prior to radiate and start the treatment with estrogen and maca for two months was the test of the Morris water maze (LAM) to determine the spatial memory, before the ovariectomy and after irradiation. Five of the six groups composed of 6 specimens studied were ovariectomizados, of the latter a group was the white, two groups received estrogen 200ug/kg p.c. but one were irradiated by mobile phones and the two other groups received 2 g/Kg of maca one of them being irradiated. It was quantified the chromogens of malondialdehyde (MDA), through absorption spectrophotometry at 532 nm wavelength. It was evidenced that Lepidium meyenii ecotype red, at a dose of 2 g/Kg presents antioxidant effect expressed in the decrease in the levels of MDA and better response in the tests of spatial memory, both with a significance value of 95 %.
