This thesis sought to resolve a problem: How to raise the level of academic achievement in Basic Mathematics, students entering first cycle at the School of Mines of the Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University ““Benedict XVI““ Trujillo ?. The research is pre experimental. According to its purpose is applied, because it solves practical problems. The sample population were 40 students who had poor academic performance in the course of Basic Mathematics, after application of a Test Input. The experimental group was selected for disqualifies a program. As a technique solving such problems was used through direct expository method, using recreational workshops. Finally, the Pos Test was applied to compare the results to demonstrate increased academic achievement. The validity and reliability of the instruments have been ratified by math teachers and the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University where the research was conducted. The final results were: 40 students as experimental group, approved 22; equivalent to 55%; disapproved 18, ie, 45% of the total. Comparing with the results of the first test, big difference, 4 approved students went to 22, ie 18 students more and equally in the disproved 36 was noted, was reduced to 18, ie half is, it decreased by 50%, thereby concludes that influences the performance of Recreational Basic Mathematics Workshops on students to raise their academic performance.
