Problem: Is there a difference in relation to the hypoglycemic efficacy of fresh juice of the leaves with fresh juice of the flower petals of Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don, in Oryctolagus cunniculus? Material: leaves and flowers of Catharanthus roseus (L) G. Don; 1 Kg. each; and 20 Oryctolagus cunniculus, ““rabbits““ race New Zealand, from Cieneguilla (Lima-Peru), subjected to the same diet and water ad libitum for 01 month prior to experimentation. Method: pure and experimental experimental study of two parallel groups. For the enzymatic glucose determination Glucose Kit Wiener AA method is used; and for determination of insulin Insulin Kit 100 test ECLIA (electrochemiluminescence). Fresh juice from the leaves and petals of flowers Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don, in increasing doses of 1 and 2 is used; method is used mL / kg body weight in four groups Oryctolagus cunniculus, determined at baseline glucose levels and insulin levels at 2, 5 and 8 hours post administration Results: a greater reduction in blood glucose is generated at 2 hours (petals 2 mL / kg) to 5 hours (petals 1 mL / kg) and 8 hour (leaves 1 mL / Kg). Furthermore, increased insulin secretion is generated at 2 hours (petals 1 mL / kg and 2 ml / kg) and 5 hours (petals 1 mL / Kg). Conclusion: Most hypoglycemic efficacy reported with fresh juice of the flower petals of Catharanthus roseus (L) G. Don in doses of 1 mL / kg of weight, this is due to its stimulating action at the pancreas, evidenced by increasing insulin levels after administration until 5 h.
