To identify the clinical, anatomopathological and treatment-related prognostic factors of 5-year survival in patients with breast cancer treated at the Hospital Regional III José Cayetano Heredia Piura during the period January-December 2015. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A prospective, longitudinal, and observational predictive correlates of survival, including 50 patients with anatomopathological diagnosis of breast carcinoma during the period from January to December of 2015, was performed to evaluate survival using techniques Of Kaplan-Meier and LogRank. RESULTS: Overall survival was 90%, 84%, 84% at 12, 36 and 60 months; respectively. The mean age of the total series was 54 ± 12.74 years (range: 30-86 years). Within the anatomopathological variables evaluated, the variable lymphovascular invasion was present in 12 patients, and absent in 38 patients, representing 24% and 76%, respectively, with a decrease in survival in patients with lymphovascular invasion; 58.3% compared to 92.2% in those who did not have this variable (p = 0.001). The presence of distant metastases was observed in 6 patients, representing 12% of the total, presenting a 33.3% survival, significantly lower than the patients without metastasis (p = 0.0001). The clinical stage was the other factor that influenced statistically significantly the survival of patients (I: 100.0%, II: 82.6%, III: 100.0% and IV: 33.3%, respectively, p = 0.000). Regarding the other variables, no statistically significant difference was observed. CONCLUSIONS: Variables such as distant metastases, clinical stage and lymphovascular invasion are prognostic factors correlated with survival in patients with breast carcinoma.
