The present investigation descriptive correlational cross-section was performed in order to determine the relationship between body mass index and practice healthy lifestyles at students of the National Service of Industrial Training - La Esperanza, 2015 during the months of February-March 2015. The study population consisted of 90 students who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The data collection was performed using a standardized height board and balance for Body Mass Index and an instrument for the practice of healthy lifestyles. The results showed that in relation to body mass index of the students of the National Service of Industrial Training of a total of 100% (89), 4.5% (4) has thinness, 68.5% (61) is normal, 23.6% (21) are overweight and 3.4% (3) obesity. Respect to lifestyle 55.1% (49) shows an unhealthy style, and 44.9% a healthy life. With regard to body mass index and its relationship with the practice of lifestyles of students; 63.3% (31) has an unhealthy life style and your body mass index is normal, amount of 75% (30) have a healthy lifestyle and body mass index is normal. So it is concluded that there is no relationship between these variables, that is to say is not significantly correlated but conversely, accepting the null hypothesis.
